Split Pea and Barley Soup

  • 2 quarts vegetable broth or water
  • 1/2 cup dried split peas
  • 1/2 cup barley
  • 1 onion diced
  • 2 carrots diced
  • 3 stalks celery diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tablespoon dried dill or 1/4 cup fresh
  • black pepper to taste


  • Combine all ingredients in a pressure cooker and set to Soup or simmer in a large Dutch Oven on the stove until peas are soft.


Goes well with my cheesy biscuits!
